Easter Egg Hunt, Longue Vue Gardens Part 2

More photos from the Longue Vue Gardens Easter Egg Hunt

First of Many Easter Egg Hunts

We must have celebrated Easter for a month, with various Easter egg hunts around town and then the kids had a favorite new game at home...you guessed it, Easter egg hunt. These are shots from the hunt at Longvue Gardens.

Sweet Kisses

Magdalena charms everyone with her sweet kisses.

Family Visits and Food

In mid-March, the kids enjoyed visits from Abuela Christina, Tia Rosie and Abuela Chacha. Visits also mean we get to eat a lot of New Orleans' good food: beignets, crawfish and breakfast at Clover Grill.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

After a break from Mardi Gras parades, the kids were very excited to go to another parade. This parade was a little different though, in addition to green and white beads, food is thrown. Carrots, potatoes, and lots of cabbage. Tavo was thrilled about getting a box of Lucky Charms.

Hanging out with Friends

On our way back from Texas, we made a brief visit at Jana's hometown of Lake Jackson. The kids got to meet Leslie, her son Gage and Tammi. They were very entertained by her dogs. Back in New Orleans, Rene, Emily and Otis came for a visit. Rene & Emily used to live in New Orleans, but it was our first time to meet their son Otis.

More Fun in Texas

Here are a few more shots in San Antonio with Abuela Christina. Later we went back for more fun at Grandma and Grandpa McDonald's. Grandpa took us for a canoe ride and Magdalena discovered the birdbath. Tavo also learned to ride a tricycle!

Visiting more Texas relatives

We went to San Antonio to meet up with Abuela Christina, Tio Ricardo, Tia Cynthia and cousin Galo. Here Nino and Nena are being driven around by Galo, enjoying ice cream and walking around downtown San Antonio.

Trip to Texas

Jana and kids took a trip to Texas at then end of February and beginning of March. Here are some shots with cousin Benjamin and Aunt Bethany, and also flying kites and Grandma and Grandpa McDonald's.

Zulu Parade 2

Tavo still talks about this parade and the throws he received. A woman walked up to him and handed him a coconut (coconuts are the most sought after Zulu parade throw). Magdalena got tons of stuffed animals and a toy sword, which we passed on to her brother. And they both got lollipops from guys on horses. Tio Jason (who is living with us) helped out with the kids. But we didn't last the whole parade...and Nena fell asleep on the walk back home.

Zulu Parade, Mardi Gras Day

The Zulu parade is another favorite of ours. We dressed the kids up (you get more use out of Halloween costumes if you live in New Orleans!) and headed down the street to catch the parade. On our way, we passed by an annual street party on St. Claude and saw some cool costumes. We found a nice spot to watch the parade from, and enjoyed the festive atmosphere until the parade started.

Lundi Gras

We spent Lundi Gras at the river front, where there is a free festival with music and food. It was a gorgeous winter day, and so pleasant to sit in the grass and listen to good music. Riding our bikes through the Quarter was fun too, all kinds of people were out and about and street musicians were at every corner.

Les Enfants du Nod

We went with Claudia and Benicio to a children's Mardi Gras parade in the Marigny. The kids dress up in costumes and they get to throw beads for a change. Tavo looks like he had one too many tequilas.

Krewe de Babylon

Here we are at another parade. Most of the parades are close enough from where we live that we can either walk or ride our bikes. Nino and I learned that it is a little tricky to hold a child while floats are passing....you just have one hand free to catch things and/or block the flying beads from hitting the kids.
