My First Mardi Gras Parade

On Sunday, January 27th, Tavo experienced the Krewe of Barkus parade. It is one of our favorite parades, where dogs and their owners are in costumes. Tavo was pleased just to be outside on a gorgeous, sunny day...then add the excitement of all the people, dogs and music and you've got one happy boy!

Nuevo Laredo, Mexico

Ninito had a great time at his bisabuela's (great grandmother's) and Tia Rosy's house in Nuevo Laredo and entertained everyone with his funny faces and sloppy kisses. He was also quite excited to browse around shops in downtown, as you can see in the photo.

Nino, Nino, Nino y Nino! Here are the four Ninos in Laredo, Texas. Papi Nino has an uncle and a cousin also named Nino.

My First Tamal

Tavo is trying new foods every day. Here his grandfather and aunt are feeding him a piece of tamal, at Restaurante Veracruzano. He also likes butternut squash, sweet peas, banana, applesauce, avocado, beans and prunes.

Mexico!

Now Nino Octavio has made his first trip to Mexico, with many more to follow. In Matamoros, he met his grandfather Dr. Ricardo Acuna for the first time. He is also pictured here with Tio Mariano and Tia Tessy.

Brownsville, Texas

Ninito visited his father's hometown of Brownsville. We stayed with his abuelita Christina. One afternoon, we walked around the Sabal Palm Audubon Center and Sanctuary. In the photo is a resaca. These "oxbow lakes" are found all over Brownsville, making it a very beautiful city. Tavo enjoyed the sticks immensely. Sticks, along with leaves, straws and spoons, are his favorite things. Of course, he also adores his grandmother, seen here dancing with him.

Squinchy Face

Nino Octavio has a unique way of smiling lately. It is funny and makes everyone laugh.

Mama's Boy

We've been away from New Orleans for about 2 weeks now. Practically every time Tavo wakes up, he's in a new place surrounded by new people. So he's become more clingy to his mama than usual! He also had his first cold, so that didn't help.

More Tricks

Tavo has had the wave down for quite some time, but we just now got a photo of it. He also mastered climbing the stairs at Grandma and Grandpa McDonald's house.

Lots of Cousins

Over the holidays, Nino Octavio has gotten the chance to play with his cousins.

In the first photo, he is playing with his cousin David and with leaves. He loves leaves! In the second, he is not so sure about a kiss from cousin Galo, the third he is checking out his second cousin Benjamin, who is just 3 months younger.
